CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Ohio University wrestling team (4-1) placed 15th among 34 teams at the 2014 Southern Scuffle. The two-day event was held in McKenzie Arena on the campus of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga.

Six Bobcats continued into day-two competition Thursday.

Johnson continued on to defeat Devin Mellon (Missouri) by a decision to advance to the semifinals against No. 5 Nick Gwiazdowski (NC State). Johnson fell to Gwiazdowski, but suffered an injury in the bout and was forced to forfeit in the third-place match to finish fourth overall.

Redshirt junior Harrison Hightower (Strongsville, Ohio) started his second day of competition in the 165 bracket with a 26 second fall, but was defeated in his third round bout to No. 15 Dylan Palacio (Cornell), falling 7-3.

In the 197 bracket, redshirt sophomore Phil Wellington (Euclid, Ohio) worked through three rounds of competition before medically defaulting out of the remainder of the tournament in the quarterfinals.

Sophomore KeVon Powell (Romeoville, Ill.), freshman Cullen Cummings (Woodridge, Ill.) and Ryan Garringer (Downers Grove, Ill.) also saw action in day-two competition.
