CLARION, Pa. - The Ohio University wrestling team (7-5) captured its third straight win Friday night as it defeated Clarion (3-8) 24-18 inside Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium to claim its sixth match in the last eight duals.
Sophomore Harrison Hightower (Strongsville, Ohio) and No. 16 junior Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) highlighted the dual for the Bobcats as they registered pins at 165 and heavyweight, respectively.
Johnson's victory was his 26th on the year, while Hightower's win was his 18th this season.
No. 17-ranked redshirt freshman Cody Walters (Macedonia, Ohio) also continued his hot streak as he won his ninth straight bout, defeating Ryan Darch 2-1 to earn his team-best 28th victory on the year.
Ohio started strong and never looked back as it claimed the first three bouts to open up a 9-0 lead thanks to victories by freshman Joe Munos (South St. Paul, Minn.), freshman Kagan Squire (Wadsworth, Ohio) and sophomore Andrew Romanchik (Independence, Ohio) as they all posted wins at 133, 141 and 149 pounds, respectively.
The Bobcats return to action on Sunday as they head to West Virginia for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Mountaineers.
