MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The Ohio University wrestling team (8-5) capped a perfect weekend on Sunday as it defeated West Virginia University 29-9 at the WVU Coliseum. With the win, the Bobcats captured their fourth-consecutive victory.

Ohio jumped out to an early 8-0 lead thanks to a pair of major decision victories by redshirt freshman Phil Wellington (Euclid, Ohio) and No. 15 junior Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) as they improved to 18-12 and 27-8, respectively.

The Mountaineers responded in a big way as it claimed the next three bouts to take a 9-8 lead, but that would be the last time West Virginia would hold the lead.

Ohio closed out the match by winning the final five bouts. Sophomore Harrison Hightower (Strongsville, Ohio) highlighted the final stretch as he posted his second straight fall on the week as he pinned Ross Renzi in 1:57.

No. 17-ranked redshirt freshman Cody Walters (Macedonia, Ohio) remained on the winning side of things as he won his 10th straight bout, defeating No. 27 Bubba Scheffel 2-1 to post his team-best 29th victory on the year.

Sophomore Michael Duckworth (Liberty, Ind.) closed out the match by registering the Bobcats second fall of the afternoon as he defeated WVU's Lance Bryson.

Ohio returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 17 as it heads to Campbell at 7:30 p.m. The meet will be held at the Voyager Academy (high school) in Durham, N.C.
