PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-Ohio's Nick Purdue was the last Bobcat remaining when the second day of competition began at the NCAA Wrestling Championships and he fought valiantly before falling 7-6 to Missouri's Dorian Henderson at 174 pounds to round out the school's representation at the national meet.
After a scoreless first period, Purdue responded to Henderson's second period escape with a takedown, carrying a 2-1 lead into the third and final period. Those two minutes proved to be ripe with scoring as Purdue had three escapes and Henderson responded each time with a takedown.
Purdue was able to get one final escape but ultimately ran out of time as Henderson came away with a one-point victory.
The competition continues Friday evening and into Saturday at Wells Fargo Center and will determine the champions and top finishers in all 10 weight classes.
