Ohio Wrestling Places Seventh at Reno Tournament of Champions

RENO, Nev. - Redshirt freshman Cody Walters posted a perfect 5-0 mark en route to a winning performance on Sunday at the 2012 Reno Tournament of Champions to lead the Ohio University wrestling team to a seventh-place finish, finishing with 61.0 points.

Walters' (Macedonia, Ohio) five straight victories helped him improve to 18-0 on the year after he posted victories over opponents from Wyoming, The Citadel, Michigan State, West Virginia and Southern Oregon.

Redshirt junior Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) also posted a strong performance as he posted a 4-2 record, finishing fifth.

Redshirt freshman Spartak Chino (Wheaton, Ill.), sophomore Andrew Romanchik (Independence, Ohio), freshman Kagan Squire (Wadsworth, Ohio) and redshirt junior Ryan Garringer (Downers Grove, Ill.) also posted strong outing at the tournament as each individual posted 3-2 records.

Ohio returns to the mat on Jan. 1 as it heads to the Southern Scuffle. The two-day tournament will be held in Chattanooga, Tenn. The event will begin at 9 a.m. on both days.
