Bobcat Wrestlers Compete in the National Collegiate Open

RICHMOND, Va. - Ohio freshman Phil Wellington and Kyle O'Donnell both earned All-America honors at the 2012 National Collegiate Open Wrestling Championship this past Sunday. The event was held at the Arthur Ashe Center and featured some of the top freshman wrestling talent in the country.

Wellington (Euclid, Ohio) placed third in the 184 pound weight class after he posted a 4-1 mark, defeating opponents from George Mason and Appalachian State and the Citadel. His lone loss came by a 6-0 decision to Joel Bauman from Minnesota. Bauman went on to win the 184 pound weight class.

O'Donnell (Washington, N.J.) took fifth at 197 following tournament mark of 3-2. He wins came over opponents from NC State, Bucknell and Purdue.

Ohio returns to action on Sunday as it competes in the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships. The event will be held in the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio.
