Ohio Earns Three Spots on 2013 Academic All-MAC Wrestling Team

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University wrestlers Spartak Chino, Jeremy Johnson and Phil Wellington were named to the 2013 Mid-American Conference Academic All-League team on Wednesday. Ohio had the most representatives on this year's academic all-league team.

Chino (Wheaton, Ill.) has earned a 3.4 grade point average in Marketing throughout his career in the classroom. This past season he posted a record of 21-15, while tallying three pins as he received an at-large bid to the 2013 NCAA Championship.

Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) earned his second straight nod to the league's all-academic team after he posted a 3.3 grade point average, majoring in Psychology. Away from the classroom, Johnson earned an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Championship for the third-consecutive season. He closed out the year by winning 12 of his final 13 regular season matches. Johnson finished the year with a 35-11 record to go along with 10 pins.

Wellington (Euclid, Ohio) received a bid to the league's all-academic team after he tallied a 3.3 grade point average in Mechanical Engineering. On the mat, Wellington finished the year with a 25-16 record, posting a pair of pins. He finished the year by winning six of his final seven bouts.
