Wrestling Signs State Champ Germane Lindsey
April 19, 2007 ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio wrestling team has announced the signing of 2007 Ohio High School State Wrestling Champion Germane Lindsey to a National Letter of Intent. The signing brings Ohio's 2007-08 recruiting class to a total of eight. Lindsey (Cincinnati, Ohio), a product of Moeller High School, was the 2007 Ohio High School Division I State Champion at 140 pounds. He defeated Mt. Vernon's Michael Lybarger 8-6 in overtime in the 140-pound championship match. Lindsey posted a career record of 154-26 at Moeller and took third place in the state championship at 135 pounds in 2006. He also placed two times at the Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournament. Lindsey was a three-time all-conference selection and a three-time all-area choice for Moeller High School. He was named the team's most valuable wrestler in 2007. He was ranked 10th in the country at 140 pounds by Amateur Wrestling News High School Rankings on March 26. Lindsey is the son of Germane Lindsey Sr. and has a brother, Matthew. He was born on April 20, 1989. Lindsey joins seven other high school athletes to sign National Letters of Intent with Ohio. He joins Ohio natives Justin Powell (Youngstown, Ohio), Matt Reedy (Hiram, Ohio), Darrin Boing (Northfield Center, Ohio), Nick Purdue (Genoa, Ohio) and Andy Hartshorn (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and New York natives Erik Schuth (Brockport, N.Y.) and Michael Fennell (Commack, N.Y.). |
