AKRON, Ohio - Redshirt freshman Jacob Ison and true freshman Joe Tymoszczuk each took seventh place in their respective weight brackets at the University Greco National Wrestling Championship, held this past weekend in the Athletics Field House in Akron.

Ison (Batavia, Ohio) took seventh place in the 79kb/174lb bracket. He started his day with a 6-3, 7-0 win over David Pelsang but then fell to Cheney Haight in the second round. Ison battled back with a 6-0, 5-0 win over Craig Field. A loss in the next match bounced Ison to the seventh-place match, where he faced off with Alex Piasecki. Ison concluded his day and won seventh place with a 5-0, 1-1, 3-0 victory over Piasecki.

Tymoszczuk (Mentor, Ohio) grabbed seventh place in the 96kg/211.5lb bracket. The freshman Bobcat earned a bye in the first round and then defeated Joe Sanches 4-0, 2-4, 3-1 to advance in the championship bracket. After a loss bounced Tymoszczuk to the consolation side, he earned a pin of Elijah Jackson in just 1:28 to advance to the seventh-place match against Patrick Carey. Tymoszczuk finished off his day with a 4-1, 8-0 victory over Carey to earn the seventh-place outcome.

The University Nationals hosts some of the best collegiate wrestlers in the country in both freestyle and Greco-Roman styles.
