ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University Wrestling team held its end-of-the-year banquet to recognize the accomplishments of the 2011-12 season.
Sophomore Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) was named the team's Most Valuable Wrestler and was selected as the squad's Hardest Worker after he earned All-America honors in the heavyweight division at the 2012 NCAA Wrestling Championships.
In addition, Johnson won the Mid-American Conference title at heavyweight and finished the year with a 35-7 mark, recording a team-best 13 falls, while owning the team's top winning percentage.
Sophomore Ryan Garringer (Downers Grove, Ill.) was named the team's Most Improved Wrestler as he earned a trip to the NCAA Championships after he placed third at the Mid-American Conference Championships.
The squad's Most Courageous Award went to freshman Andrew Romanchik (Independence, Ohio), who finished the year with a 15-15 record.
Freshman Phil Wellington (Euclid, Ohio) took home the team's top Redshirt Award after he posted a 28-12 record during his first season at the collegiate level.
The Bobcats finished the season with an overall mark of 5-7 and finished fourth at the Mid-American Conference Championships.
