ATHENS, Ohio - Sophomore heavyweight Jeremy Johnson was named to the 2011-12 National Wrestling Coaches Association Individual All-Academic team on Tuesday.
Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) was one of 87 athletes, 23 All-Americans and just 16 sophomores nationally that were named to the team.
During the 2011-12 season, Johnson placed seventh in the heavyweight division at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors, while finishing the year with a 35-7 record. Prior to the national tournament, Johnson captured the 2012 Mid-American Conference title in the heavyweight division.
Following the year, Johnson was named the team's Most Valuable Wrestler and was selected as the squad's Hardest Worker.
