COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - At the 2009 U.S. World Team Trials, Ohio’s Jacob Ison competed in the 84kg Greco-Roman division, finishing with a 1-2 record and claiming sixth place in Saturday’s Challenge Tournament at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ison earned his spot in the event after placing sixth at the U.S. National Tournament in Las Vegas.

In his opening bout, Ison (Batavia, Ohio) lost by decision to former Minnesota standout Gabe Dretsch, who went on the place third in the tournament. Ison then faced Talan Knox in his next match, defeating him by decision and advancing to wrestle Walter Hoffman in the consolation semifinals. Hoffman won by decision and eventually placed fourth in the tournament.
