Ohio's Johnson to Compete in Junior World Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Ohio freshman heavyweight Jeremy Johnson competed and won at the Junior World Team Trials last weekend and advanced to the Junior World Championships where he will compete for Team USA.


That competition will be held July 20-25 in Budapest, Hungary.


Johnson made the junior freestyle world squad by defeating Michigan’s Steve Andrus 1-0, 3-1 and 1-0, 4-0. He went 2-0 to win the challenge tournament earlier in the day to advance to the championship series.


The freshman from Broadview Heights, Ohio redshirted for the Bobcats, who boasted junior All-American Germane Lindsey at the 141-pound weight class last season.
