ATHENS, Ohio-Head Coach Joel Greenlee announced that five newcomers will join Ohio Wrestling next fall. The Bobcats will welcome Garret Garness (Hayfield, Minn.), Daniel Mirman (Wadsworth, Ohio), Zach Rohr (Hastings, Minn.), Andrew Romanchik (Independence, Ohio) and Cody Walters (Macedonia, Ohio) as the newest additions to the program.

"We are extremely excited to welcome this class to Ohio," said Greenlee. "This group of student-athletes is one of the finest our staff has assembled and will be wonderful additions to not only the department, but the University as well."

Garness, ranked 27th at the 140-lb. weight class by Wrestling USA Magazine, is a three-time state tournament finalist at Kasson-Mantorville High and was the Class AA 130-pound runner-up last season as a junior. He placed second at 125 pounds as a sophomore, and was state champion at 103 pounds as an eighth grader. His current career record is 176-32. He is projected to wrestle at the 133 or 141-lb weight classes at Ohio.

Rohr, ranked 25th at the 125-lb. weight class by Wrestling USA Magazine, has amassed a career record of 138-45 at Hastings High and has placed in the top six at the state championships in grades 8-11. He took fourth at the Junior Nationals this year and was second last year in the USA Wrestling All-American Folkstyle Cadet Nationals and fifth in freestyle a year ago. He also placed sixth at Folkstyle Nationals in 2008. An Academic All-American in 2009-10, Rohr has been named Academic All-State twice. He is projected to wrestle at the 149-lb. weight class at Ohio.

Mirman, ranked 29th in the 140-lb. weight class by Wrestling USA Magazine, won the junior high state championship as an eighth-grader and has amassed a 95-15 record in his first three years at Highland High, finishing as the state runner-up as a junior after capturing the section and district championships. He is projected to wrestle at the 141-lb. weight class at Ohio.

Romanchik, ranked 18th in the 140-lb. weight class by Wrestling USA Magazine, was a three-time state qualifier and placed in the top four twice at Padua Franciscan High. He was also conference champion three times, the team's Most Outstanding Wrestler twice and finished sixth in the Super 32. He has amassed a record of 130-25 during his three years in high school where he saw action in the 103, 112 and 125-lb. weight classes. Walters, ranked 13th in the 160-lb. weight class by Wrestling USA Magazine, has put up a record of 125-22 at 125 lbs. thus far at St. Peter Chanel High School. He also picked up a gold medal at the 2009 AAU Disney Duals and followed that with a silver medal the following year. He claimed the 2009 freestyle state championship in his only year wrestling in freestyle. He is projected to wrestle at either the 157 or 165-lb. weight classes at Ohio.
