ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University wrestling team (3-0) opens Mid-American Conference action Friday night at 5 p.m. as it heads to Columbia, Mo., to take on the No. 13-ranked Missouri Tigers.
The Bobcats return to action for the first time since its sixth-place showing at the Navy Classic two weeks ago in Annapolis, Md.
Ohio enters the bout on Friday, having won its last 10 duals, dating back to last season. The Bobcats also feature four individuals that are ranked in the Top 25 in the form of sophomore Sparty Chino (Wheaton, Ill.), sophomore Cody Walters (Macedonia, Ohio), sophomore Phil Wellington (Euclid, Ohio) and senior Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio).
Wellington and junior Tywan Claxton (South Euclid, Ohio) both highlighted competition for the Bobcats at the Navy Classic as both posted perfect 4-0 marks to claim the 149 and 197 weight classes, respectively.
Wellington also has won six-consecutive matches, heading into Friday's dual.
Missouri enters Friday night's dual with five individuals ranked in the top 15 of their respective weight classes. As a team, the Tigers are 1-0 in dual competition after they defeated North Dakota State. In addition, three individuals claimed individual titles at the Joe Parisi Open two weeks ago.
