Ohio Wrestling Opens Home Slate Against Appalachian State

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University wrestling team (3-1) will play host to the Appalachian State Mountaineers (2-2) Sunday morning at 10 a.m. inside the Convocation Center for its home-opener.

The Bobcats enter the dual following a 23-10 loss at No. 13 ranked Missouri.

Ohio features four individuals ranked in the top 25, according to IntermatWrestle.com.

Junior Tywan Claxton (South Euclid, Ohio) will be chasing his twelfth consecutive win, and fourth victory in duel competition. In his previous match, he defeated No. 1 ranked Drake Houdashelt of Mizzou.

Ohio redshirt sophomore Phil Wellington (Euclid, Ohio) will be fighting for his eighth consecutive win for the Bobcats.

Senior Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) also will be looking to hold his undefeated title in duel competition.

The Mountaineers enter Sunday's meet with three individuals placing in the Top 5 of the Roadrunner Open in their respective weight classes. As a team, they are undefeated in conference play.
