ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University men's cross country team placed seven runners in the top 10 to claim the 2012 Ohio Invitational Saturday afternoon. The 8-kilometer event was held at the Ohio University golf course.
Ohio finished with a team score of 20 points to outlast Marietta, which finished with 43 points.
Redshirt freshman Matt Watts (Gallipolis, Ohio) took runner-up honor as he finished in a time of 25:49.12. Fellow redshirt freshman Kurt Steinmuller (Stonybrook, N.Y.) was next Ohio finisher as he posted a time of 25:50.61 to take third.
Marietta's Caleb Ellis won the event with a time of 25:13.92.
Ohio returns to action on Sept. 21 as it heads to Toledo, Ohio for the Toledo Bubble Buster Invitational. The meet is set for 5 p.m.
