MADISON, Wis. - The Ohio University men's cross country team placed 20th Friday afternoon at the Great Lakes Regional on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
Ohio was one of 31 teams that took part in the event on Friday. The Bobcats finished with a team score of 529 points.
"We have some guys that really stepped up today and did a great job," said head coach Clay Calkins. "We have a young squad and I think we have a bright future ahead of us."
Senior Tyler Ames (Cortland, Ohio) paced the Bobcats, finishing the 10-kilomenter course in a time of 32:48, which was good enough for 75th-place overall. Freshman Jarrod Genther (Canal Wincherster, Ohio) posted a strong outing as he clocked a time of 33:02 to place 84th overall.
Redshirt freshman Jacob Stephens (Bellbrook, Ohio) rounded out the Bobcats' top three as he took 98th, finishing in a time of 33:14.
Friday afternoon's Great Lakes Regional was the Bobcats final meet of the season.
