Bobcats Post Four Top-10 Finishes at All-Ohio
April 20, 2009 OXFORD, Ohio - At the All-Ohio Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend, the Ohio men's cross country team ran in the distance events as part of its spring season. The Bobcats turned in four top-10 performances at George L. Rider Track on the campus of Miami University, led by Ridge Robinson's third-place showing in the 10,000 meter run. Robinson (Navarre, Ohio), a junior, completed the race in a time of 30:45.79. Senior Shamus Eaton (Uniontown, Ohio) was not far behind, placing eighth with a time of 31:46.05. Finally, Chris Davis (Reedsville, Ohio) finished in a time of 33:12.89 to place 13th. In the 5,000 meter run, senior Chad Toussant (Minerva, Ohio) finished 10th in a time of 15:31.20 to lead the Bobcats. Freshman Matt Michno (Kettering, Ohio) came in 16th with a mark of 15:57.10, while Chris Myers (Milford, Ohio) and Sean Kelley (Canton, Ohio) placed 18th and 19th, respectively. Kevin Kappers (Cincinnati, Ohio) ran in the 800 meters, placing 12th with a time of 1:55.19. He was joined by Brett Lloyd (Miamisburg, Ohio), who came in 25th with a mark of 2:03.70. Ohio had four runners in the 1,500, led by freshman Tyler Cantley (Vincent, Ohio), who ran a time of 3:54.69 for an eighth-place finish. Junior Scott Wildermuth (Canal Winchester, Ohio) placed 13th with a time of 3:59.85, and Brock Schwarz (Alliance, Ohio) and Dan O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) came in 21st and 27th, respectively. The 3,000-meter steeplechase saw Aaron Baker (Huber Heights, Ohio) place 12th, finishing with a mark of 10:03.08. Freshman Joey Cherico (Strongsville, Ohio) came in 15th with a time of 10:09.36, and senior Aadam Soorma (Canton, Ohio) finished 17th with a 10:20.52. Ohio will be back in action at the Hillsdale Relays beginning Friday, April 24 in Hillsdale, Mich., with track events beginning at 2 p.m. ET. The meet concludes Saturday, April 25 at Ken Herrick Track at Hillsdale College. Results will be available on OhioBobcats.com. |
