Ohio Runs in Hillsdale Relays
April 28, 2009 HILLSDALE, Mich. - Ohio men's cross country ran in the Hillsdale "GINA" Relays over the weekend at Hillsdale College's Ken Herrick Track, competing in the distance events as part of its spring season. Senior Shamus Eaton (Uniontown, Ohio) claimed a top-10 finish in the 5,000 meters, running a time of 15:25.28 to place ninth in the race. Chad Toussant (Minerva, Ohio) came in 33rd, finishing in 16:02.42, while Brock Schwarz (Alliance, Ohio) and Dan O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) placed 36th and 37th, respectively. Freshman Matt Michno (Kettering, Ohio) finished in 46th place, Chris Myers (Milford, Ohio) came in 56th and Jeremy Wolfe (Gallipolis, Ohio) and Dan Quarfoot (Barrington, Ill.) were 67th and 68th, respectively, in the event, while Sean Kelley (Canton, Ohio) rounded out the Bobcats at 98th. Running in the invitational division of the 5,000 meters, junior Ridge Robinson (Navarre, Ohio) finished with a time of 14:50.07, good for 20th place. Ohio also had two teams in the 4x800-meter relay, placing seventh and 16th. The seventh-place group finished with a time of 7:44.49 and consisted of Kevin Kappers (Cincinnati, Ohio), Tyler Cantley (Vincent, Ohio), Joey Cherico (Strongsville, Ohio) and Scott Wildermuth (Canal Winchester, Ohio). The second team featured Aadam Soorma (Canton, Ohio), Kelley, Bretty Lloyd (Miamisburg, Ohio) and O'Brien. In the 800-meter run, Cantley, a freshman, placed 17th with a time of 1:55.29. He was followed closely by teammate Kappers who placed 26th, finishing the race in 1:57.39. Lastly, Ohio had several competitors in the 1,500 meters, led by Michno and Kelley who placed 57th and 58th with times of 4:12.87 and 4:13.00, respectively. Wildermuth followed in 62nd place, with Lloyd in 71st, Myers in 73rd and Wolfe in 79th. |
