ATHENS, Ohio - Meets against the Miami Redhawks, Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are all part of the Ohio University men's and women's cross country schedules, which were released today.
The Bobcats will take a trip to Oxford, Ohio on Sept. 7 to take on archrival Miami. The women's race begins at 10 a.m. with the men's race following at 10:30 a.m.
One week later, Sept. 14, Ohio will compete in their lone home meet of the season at the Ohio Invitational. Both the men's and the women's teams will look to defend their titles from last year's event. The women's competition begins at 10 a.m. with the men following 45 minutes later at 10:45 a.m.
Following the Ohio Invitational, the `Cats will travel to Winston Salem, N.C. on Sept. 20 to race against Wake Forest. The meet begins at 5 p.m. with the men's race. The women's competition follows at 6 p.m.
Two weeks later, Ohio cross country will participate in split squad competition. On Oct. 4, half of the team will travel to South Bend, Ind. to take on Notre Dame, while the other half will go to Cedarville, Ohio for the All-Ohio Championship. The times for the events are the same, starting with the women at 2 p.m. and the men following at 2:45 p.m.
Ohio returns to action Oct. 19, when the teams visit Terre Haute, Ind. for Pre-Nationals. The men will start at 11:00 a.m. and the women at 11:45 a.m.
Next on the agenda for the `Cats is a trip to Bowling Green, Ohio on Nov. 2 to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships. The event begins with the women's race at 11:00 a.m. and the men following an hour later at 12:00 p.m.
In the 2012 MAC Championships, the women finished third with Juli Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) capturing the individual crown for the second-consecutive season. The third-place finish by the women's was their best finish since the 2008 season. The men concluded the MAC Championships in seventh place.
Postseason meets begin on Nov. 15 with the NCAA Regional in Madison, Wis. and will conclude with the NCAA Nationals on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
