ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University Men's and Women's Cross Country Programs begin their seasons on Saturday as they travel to Penn State for the Harry Groves Invitational. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. with the men's race starting 45 minutes later at 11:45 a.m.
In 2011, both the men's and women's programs placed in the top three at the Harry Groves Invitational. The women earned a strong second-place finish while the men performed well too, taking third. Juniors Juli Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) and Emily Pifer (Canal Winchester, Ohio) paced the lady 'Cats, with Accurso finishing in ninth at 21:43 and Pifer taking tenth in 21:47.
The men were led by junior Chase Robinson (Navarre, Ohio) who finished in fourth place with an impressive time of 26:58.
Ohio Women's Cross Country had a strong 2011 season, placing in the top three at four different competitions. The team won the 2011 Ohio Open and placed fourth at the Mid-American Conference Championships. Ohio Men's Cross Country also performed quite well in 2011, finishing in the top three at three different competitions. The men's program placed fifth at the MAC Championships.
