ATHENS, Ohio - Both the men's and women's cross country teams will start the season this Saturday. The Bobcats are hosting the Green and White Invite, which will feature Robert Morris along with the `Cats. The women will start at 10:30 a.m., with the men following at 11:15 a.m. at the Ohio University Golf Course.

The women are coming off back-to-back MAC championships, and All-MAC performers Annie Beecham, Kari Summers and Julia Weisenborn return this season. The men finished fourth in the MAC championship last year, and experienced runners Shamus Eaton and Ridge Robinson look to lead a young team.

Head Coach Clay Calkins is looking forward to opening the season at home and seeing how his runners perform. "With the kick off of this year's season, this first meet will be a test for the athletes. When competing at home, it is always important to showcase our talent and try and compete at our highest level," Calkins said.

The meet will be followed by the home-opener for the Bobcat football team at 2:00 p.m. in Peden Stadium. Come out and support Bobcat athletics, starting with the Green and White Invite Saturday morning. Cross country will also host the Ohio Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27.
