Shamus Eaton in the Ohio Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio - Senior Shamus Eaton and junior Kari Summers were named the MAC Cross Country Runners of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Both student-athletes competed in the Ohio Invitational last Saturday, Sept. 27 in Athens.

Eaton (Uniontown, Ohio) took the men's title, finishing first out of 30 runners with a time of 25:08.7 on the 8K course. He led the men's team to a second-place finish behind the University of Cincinnati and was one of only two Bobcat runners to finish in the top ten. Previously, Eaton finished second in the Green and White Invite on Sept. 13, also in Athens.

Summers ran a time of 17:24.7 en route to a runner-up finish behind Lilian Jelimo of Cincinnati in a field of over 50 competitors. The two-time First Team All-MAC performer helped her team to a second-place showing out of four teams, totaling 30 points. In the Green and White Invite, she took first place ahead of teammate Annie Beecham. Last season, the Troy, Ohio native was named Runner of the Week on Oct. 2 for her performance in the Notre Dame Invitational.

The Bobcats travel to South Bend, Ind. to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational Friday, Oct. 3. Ohio is competing in the Gold Division, which kicks off at 2:00 p.m. ET.
