Cross Country Heads to Notre Dame Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio - The men's and women's cross country teams travel to South Bend, Ind. to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational Friday, Oct. 3. The meet will feature teams from a total of 60 schools, including 18 ranked teams running in the top Blue Division. The Bobcats are racing in the Gold Division this year, which consists of teams from Divisions I, II and III. The invitational kicks off at 2:00 p.m. ET with the women's Gold Division meet. Ohio is coming off a strong performance last weekend in its own Ohio Invitational. The men ran against the University of Cincinnati, who had won two consecutive meets prior to coming to Athens. The Bobcats tallied 43 points to the Bearcats' 20, and Ohio's Shamus Eaton took first place in the 8K event. Junior Ridge Robinson (Navarre, Ohio) came in ninth for Ohio. On the women's side, juniors Kari Summers and Annie Beecham (Granville, Ohio) posted second and third-place finishes, respectively, en route to a second place team showing behind the Bearcats. Cincinnati's women had also won two consecutive meets prior to the Ohio Invitational. Ohio recorded 30 points, while the Bearcats had 20. Jenielle Hunt (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also finished in the top ten for the Bobcats. For their efforts last weekend, both Shamus Eaton (Uniontown, Ohio) and Kari Summers (Troy, Ohio) were named the MAC Runners of the Week by the league office. The women are scheduled to run at 2:00 p.m. ET, followed by the men at 2:45 p.m. Results will be posted online following the meet. |
