ATHENS, Ohio - The men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the 2008 Pre-Nationals, hosted by Indiana State University, on Saturday. The women are running a 6K at this event rather than a 5K, and Ohio is one of 41 teams that will run at 11 a.m. in the Blue Race. The men are also in the Blue Race with 40 other teams, which begins at 12:10 p.m.

Last week, the Bobcats ran in the All-Ohio Championships in Delaware, Ohio, where both teams posted top-five finishes. The men placed fifth out of 42 teams, led by senior Shamus Eaton (Uniontown, Ohio) and junior Ridge Robinson (Navarre, Ohio), who finished 12th and 19th, respectively. The women finished fourth of 41 teams, highlighted by the performances of reigning MAC Runner of the Week Kari Summers (Troy, Ohio) and fellow junior Annie Beecham (Granville, Ohio), who notched second- and third-place showings, respectively.

This meet is the lead-in to the MAC Championships, as the Bobcats have next week off before they head to Ypsilanti, Mich. to vie for MAC titles. The Ohio women are the two-time defending conference champions, while the men finished fourth at last year's meet.
