HUNTINGTON, W. Va. -- Senior Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) delivered an ace on the par 3 sixth hole to highlight the first round of the 2018 Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational for the Ohio men's golf team today at the Guyan Golf and Country Club.
The 2018 Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational was originally scheduled to be a 54-hole tournament over two days. However, course conditions due to rain forced the event to be shortened to a 36-hole tournament, with the first round held today and the final round to be held on Tuesday (Sept. 11) beginning with an 8:30 a.m. EST shotgun start.
The Bobcats are in eighth place with a combined team score of 282 (-2) but are just five shots out of second place. Ohio is shooting a tournament-best -2 on the par 3s. Wichita State leads the field by 10 strokes with a 267 (-17).
Sattler shot a 68 (-3) in the first round, matching the best round score of his collegiate career and putting him in an eight-way tie for seventh place. He shot -2 on the par 3 holes to tie for the tournament lead.
Sophomore Tanner Johnson (Venetia, Pa.) is tied for 21st after posting a first-round 70 (-1) -- the best round of his collegiate career to date.
Sophomore Austin Dyson (Dublin, Ohio) and sophomore Zach Mandry (Solon, Ohio) are tied for 42nd after both shot a 72 (+1) in the first round. Dyson was -1 on the par 3s. Both posted the best round scores of their collegiate careers to date.
Sophomore Zach Crawford (Vandalia, Ohio) shot a 73 (+2) in the first round, putting him in a tie for 52nd.
Competing as an individual, redshirt sophomore Adam Stephens (Dublin, Ohio) is in 87th after tallying a 78 (+7).
Wichita State senior Adrien Michellod is leading the pack after recording a 64 (-7) in the first round.
