ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio men's cross country team has been selected to finish fifth of the nine teams in the Mid-American Conference in a vote of the league's head coaches, it was announced today.
The Bobcats are chosen to finish ahead of MAC rivals Akron, Central Michigan, Toledo and Kent State. Eastern Michigan was selected to finish first in the MAC followed by Miami, Bowling Green, and Buffalo.
At the 2016 MAC Cross Country Championships, Ohio's men finished fourth. The Bobcat scorers were led by returners Brad Miller (Bellbrook, Ohio) in 20th place, Zach Zimmerman (Pickerington, Ohio) in 22nd and Kyle Bussard (Germantown, Ohio) in 28th. Miller finished in 26:03.3, Zimmerman in 26:05.5 and Bussard in 26:33.1.
The Bobcats return a total of 12 runners consisting of four seniors, three juniors, and five sophomores. Ohio also welcomes one sophomore transfer and four new freshmen.
Ohio looks forward to competing in the first event of the season at the Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington, Ky. on Sept. 9th. The men's race will start promptly at 10 a.m.
