LEXINGTON, Ky.--The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams pack their bags and head to Lexington, Ky. to compete in their second meet of the 2018 season, the Bluegrass Invitational, hosted by Kentucky. The men's 8K race will begin promptly at 9:30 am while the women will begin their 5K at 10:10 am and will be held at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.
The Bobcats look forward to facing the Wildcats of Kentucky along with Bellarmine (men's team only), Eastern Kentucky, Illinois and Ohio State in the collegiate contest.
The Bobcats men's team returns fifteen of their runners from last year's roster while the women return sixteen runners. The men were selected to finish seventh on the men's side and ninth on the women's in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released last week.
The men finished fourth in the 2017 MAC Championships last season while the women's team finished eighth.
Ohio's men's team welcome new freshmen to the team including Gaving Shearer (Delaware, Ohio), Czar Tarr (Pittsburgh, PA), Grant Wirth (Waynsville, Ohio). The women welcome Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio), Miah DeSantis (Springfield, Ohio), Payton Grigsby (Wadsworth, Ohio), Jocelyn Knauss (Strongsville, Ohio), Rosie Lamb (Granville, Ohio), Lauren Parrell (Brighton, Mich), Stephanie Pierce (Fairborn, Ohio), and Kat Willette (Dublin, Ohio) to the Bobcat family.
Both the men and women's teams will travel to Blackburg, Va., to compete in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite on Friday, Sept. 14. The women's race is set to begin at 6 p.m. with the men's race to follow at 6:40 p.m.
