State College, Pa. --The Ohio men's and women's cross country teams return home after competing in the Penn State National Open in Pennsylvania.
The Bobcat women had finished above conference opponent Akron in the 6K. The fastest time was clocked in by senior Alyssa Atkinson (Granville, Ohio) with a time of 21:41 placing 72nd overall. The next Bobcat to cross the line was junior Melissa Koziol (Burton, Ohio) with a time of 22:11. The remaining Bobcats, junior Madison Sury (Waterford, Ohio) 22:17, junior Abby Miller (Mansfield, Ohio) 22:21, sophomore Hailey Bowes (Arlington Heights, Ill) 22:46, junior Tiffany Hill (Dublin, Oho) 22:49, and freshman Madelyn Bartolone (Massillon, Ohio) 22:52.
The men also finished above conference opponent Akron in the 5.2 mile race. The men were led by sophomore Josh Park (Amherst, Ohio) who finished twelfth with a time of 25:19. The next Bobcat to cross the line was red shirt sophomore Griffin Butler (Newark, Ohio) with a time of 26:12 followed closely by senior Kyle Bussard (Germantown, Ohio) with a time of 26:17. The remaining Bobcats senior Zach Zimmerman (Pickerington, Ohio) 26:31, junior Nate Mallue (Massillon, Ohio) 26:53, sophomore John Jaynes (Canal Winchester, Ohio) 27:13, and sophomore Matthew Agosta (Circleville, Ohio) 27:45
The cross country teams will take another break before returning Saturday Oct. 27 to compete in the MAC Championships in Toledo, Ohio. The first race will start at 12 p.m.
