BOSTON – Former Ohio University men’s track student-athlete Craig Leon finished 10th in the 117th running of the Boston Marathon Monday.
Leon placed third among American runners in a personal-best time of 2:14.38. The time was a full minute faster than his previous low mark of 2:15.38, set when he finished 20th during the Chicago Marathon this past October.
The Eugene, Ore., has succeeded at the highest levels of competition since graduating from Ohio University in 2007. He placed 26th in the marathon at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials and won the Eugene Marathon in 2010. He was ranked the 29th fastest American marathon runner in 2012.
Leon walked on to the Ohio University track team as a freshman in 2003 and qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2007.
