Nebraska-Omaha '77

A five-time regional coach of the year, Gary Becker joined the Ohio women's basketball coaching staff in April 2003 after a 14-year career as the head coach of the women's team at Casper College in Wyoming. He enters his third season in Athens in 2005, with a resume that includes more than two decades of collegiate head coaching experience.

"Coach Becker's success certainly distinguishes him as one of the top coaches in the national junior college ranks," said Bobcat Head Coach Lynn Bria. "He recruits well and is able to bring in top players from within the United States and internationally, as well. With his head coaching experience, he brings an incredible amount of knowledge of the game to our staff in terms of teaching, scouting and strategies. He is a great coach and a first-class person."

Becker brings with him a head coaching record of 436-159 (.732) - including a 328-104 (.759) mark during his time at Casper. He guided the Lady T-Birds to five regional championships. Four of those teams went on to place in the top 10 at the national tournament, including a third-place finish in 1996.

In 2002-03, Casper College finished with a record of 19-9 and advanced to the regional championship game for the ninth time in the last 11 seasons.

Becker coached 12 junior college All-Americans during his tenure at Casper. Two players - Samantha Gilbert and Dianne L'Ami - were named to the national tournament team. Also, seven of his players earned Academic All-America honors.

Becker began his collegiate coaching career at Ellsworth Community College in 1980. He'd spend nearly a decade at Ellsworth before taking the head coaching position at Casper College in 1989.

Becker earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1977 and received his master's at Wayne State College in 1980.

Becker and his wife Dana have two children: Gerod (17) and Clint (14).
