OXFORD, Ohio - Rachel Frederick (Gibsonia, Pa.) registered a team-high 21 points as she led Ohio (7-7, 0-2 MAC) in scoring for the sixth time this season in an 84-73 loss at Miami (8-7, 2-0 MAC) on Saturday.
Fourteen of Frederick's points came in the second half as the 5-11 sophomore shot 77-percent from the field after going 10-for-13 on the night. She also had a game-high seven rebounds, marking the tenth time that she's led the team in the category this season.
Lauren Kohn (Adrian, Mich.) added 13 points and five rebounds while Quintana Ward (Park Forest, Ill.) and Jennifer Bushby (Gahanna, Ohio) each tallied 11 points. Ward finished 5-of-11 from the field and Bushby was 4-of-8. Both were perfect from the charity stripe shooting 1-of-1 and 2-of-2, respectively.
Lauren Hmiel (York, Pa,) added a career-high eight points after shooting 3-of-8 from the field and 2-of-4 from the three-point line in the first half alone.
Collectively, the Bobcats shot 32-of-63 (50.8-percent) from the floor, 4-of-15 (26.7-percent) from behind the three-point line and 6-of-8 (75-percent) from the free throw line.
Turnovers plagued the Bobcats for the second straight game as the RedHawks scored 18 points off the `Cats 23 turnovers. Ohio was also outrebounded by a 38-32 mark that included 13 in the first half.
Miami had three players score in double-figures led by Amanda Jackson with a game-high 25 points, including 13 in the first half. Jenna Schone had 17 points and Ashley Hawkins added 12.
Ohio will return to The Convo on Jan. 10 to face Buffalo at 7 p.m.
