BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Ohio women's basketball team struggled from the field at Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon and the Bobcats lost a MAC contest to the Falcons, 60-45, at Anderson Arena.
The Bobcats held a one point advantage with 15:05 left to play in the second half but the Falcons went on an 11 point run during the next four minutes to take a 10 point lead with 11:49 remaining in the game and the `Cats could not cut the BGSU lead to less than six.
Lauren Kohn (Adrian, Mich.) and Jennifer Poff (St. John's, Mich.) led the Bobcats with 18 and 13 points, respectively, but the `Cats could not muster enough offense to combat the Falcons balanced attack.
Four Bowling Green players tallied double-digit points in the Falcons second straight MAC victory and as a team shot 42.9 percent from the field while the Bobcats notched a 34.6 shooting percentage overall and 27.6 percent in the second half.
Chandra Myers (Sugarcreek, Ohio) led the Bobcats with six rebounds while Bowling Green's Crystal Murdaugh and Lauren Prochaska both pulled down 11 boards.
At the end of the game, Bowling Green held advantages in total rebounds (40-34), assists (16-7) and steals (3-11) and while the Falcons took just four more free throws, the Bobcats committed 17 fouls compared to only eight for Bowling Green.
Lauren Hmiel (York, Pa.) and Quintana Ward (Park Forest, Ill.) joined Poff, Kohn and Myers in the starting line-up.
Ohio will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 16 with a road game at Buffalo. The Bulls are 9-6 so far this season, with a 2-0 record in MAC play.
