Ohio University vs. Bowling Green State University quotes January 15, 2007

BGSU coach Curt Miller

On the Game:

"It was a good win tonight. Certainly it was not a pretty game, but we grinded it out, and that's what it's all about on the road in this conference. I thought we were very gutty to come away when we did not play our best basketball with a great road win in the MAC. We were going to have to prove we could win when we had a bad shooting night. I think we proved that to ourselves tonight. Once again, our defense saved us. We did not shoot the ball well, and credit goes certainly to the game plan of Ohio. They were really aggressive against us tonight."

BGSU Senior Carin Horne

On the team's performance:

"We stepped up. I recognized we were shooting kind of poor inside, and I thought if I shot better on the outside, it'd open up the inside even more.

On her defense:

"I've just been in the right place at the right time in team defense, and that's what we rely on."

Ohio University Head Coach Sylvia Crawley:

Opening Statement:

"I think it was definitely their strategy to take away our top two players with Rachel (Frederick), and Lauren Kohn. That was our plan which was to take away their top players with #14, and #22. I thought the first half we switched up our defenses a lot. We forced them to think a little bit, they were trying to figure out what we were doing. We never ran the same defense more than two times consecutively so they couldn't catch on to what we were doing. I thought at halftime Curt Miller did a good job of making adjustments. We tried to do those same things the 2nd half, and they didn't work quite as well."

On the game:

"They are a very tough team to defend. They cause a lot of match up problems. I was proud of the way our team fought tonight. I just thought we turned the ball over to much and that hurt us. It's the little things that will make a big difference in games like this. As far as I know I think we have played them the closest of any MAC team this year, so that's the positive. The other good thing that I walk away with, I was very pleased with our `green team', and how they performed tonight."

"We need to learn how to rally together as a team, and have someone else step it up when one our key player's is out or taken out of the game by our opponents defense. Other people have to step it up. I think our team really wanted this game tonight, we just didn't quite know how to get it done."
