ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio University women's basketball team (8-11, 3-5 MAC) showed a strong first-half effort, but ultimately fell to Mid-American Conference East Division leader Bowling Green (17-3, 7-1 MAC), 78-62, on Thursday (Jan. 30) at the Convocation Center.
The Bobcats displayed an all-around team battle as seven players scored six points or more. Sophomore guard Kiyanna Black (Columbus, Ohio) tallied 12 points and three steals in the loss. Black has reached double-figures in all seven of Ohio's home games this season.
Sophomore guard Kat Yelle (Geneva, Ill.) posted 10 points to go along with four assists. Freshman guard Quiera Lampkins (Gahanna, Ohio) finished with 10 points, marking her fourth consecutive game with 10 points or more.
Freshman forward Hannah Boesinger (Hudson, Ohio) connected on three treys, giving her nine points. Freshman guard Yamonie Jenkins (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) matched her career-best with five assists and scored six points.
The Falcons started the game on a 10-0 run, but the Bobcats finished the first half on a 35-21 run to enter the intermission with a 35-31 lead. The Green and White cruised to a 58-51 lead with 9:20 to play, but Bowling Green showed resilience in its comeback victory.
Ohio outscored Bowling Green in points in the paint (32-28) and points off turnovers (21-11).
Ohio looks to put a halt to a four-game losing streak on Sunday (Feb. 2) when it travels to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to face-off against MAC West Division leader Central Michigan. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
