Box Score

After winning its first game of the season by 31 points, the Ohio women's basketball team won big once again to even its record at 2-2.

Ohio defeated Cleveland State on Monday night by a score of 70-59. Lauren Kohn (Adrian, Mich.) scored 27 points and Simone Redd (Warrensville Heights, Ohio) added 15 to pace the Bobcats offensively while Chandra Myers (Sugarcreek, Ohio) pulled down 10 boards, helping the Bobcats create a 53-31 advantage on the glass.

Quintana Ward (Park Forrest, Ill.) had a team-high four assists in Ohio's first road-win of the season.

Cleveland State was paced by Kailey Klein's team-high 22 points and seven rebounds.

At the half the Bobcats had already built up a 14-point lead, 37-23, with Kohn and Jennifer Poff (St. Johns, Mich.) leading the way offensively. Kohn led all scorers at the break with 13 points while Poff added nine off the bench. Myers had seven rebounds at the half and Poff tallied four boards.

The score sat at 28-23 in the opening frame before Poff hit a 3-pointer and the Bobcats closed out the first half with a nine-point run.

Klein paced the Vikings at the half with seven points, despite 1-of-8 shooting from the floor. In the opening stanza the Bobcats shot 45 percent on field goals (14-of-31) and 58 percent (7-of-12) from beyond the three-point line. Cleveland State shot just 25 percent from the floor in the first half but were able to stay close by hitting 7-of-8 free throws while the Bobcats connected on just 2-of-7 shots (28 percent) from the charity stripe.

It was more of the same for the Bobcats in the second half as Redd continued the Bobcat run that could only be stopped by the halftime buzzer. Redd scored five straight points on a jumper and three free throws to push Ohio's lead to 44-25 with 15 minutes remaining in the contest.

Ohio and Cleveland State exchanged buckets throughout the second stanza before the Vikings put on a run to end the game but the Ohio lead was just too great and the Bobcats won 70-59.

Ohio will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to take part in the Air Force Classic. The Bobcats' opening match-up will be on Friday at 7:30 p.m. MT against Utah Valley State.
