Shavon Robinson broke her previous single-game rebound record, notching 12 boards. Prior to today’s game her personal record was held at nine from the Buffalo game on 1/15/11.
Ohio notched 10 steals in the game. Kiyanna led with four.
1st Half:
Mariah Byard put Ohio on the scoreboard with two successful free throws at 17:28 directly followed by teammate Tina Fisher with two more at 17:00, which gave the Bobcats an early lead in the game.
Kiyanna Black scored a pivotal two-point basket with six seconds remaining in the half to put the Bobcats down 27-31 heading into the locker room.
Ohio was led by Kiyanna Black’s ten first-half points. UMass was paced by both Emily Mital and Jasmine Harris who had eight points apiece in the first half.
The Bobcats shot a notable 6-6 from the free throw line and held the Vikings to just three successful free throw attempts in the first half.
2nd Half:
The Minutewomen came out strong in the second half taking the biggest lead of the game at 38-27. Ohio answered, however, with eight consecutive points.
Ohio held UMass scoreless for a total of two and a half minutes from 18:44 to 16:17.
Ohio tied the game at 42-42 with 13:09 remaining in the second half after a basket by Kiyanna Black. Ohio remained within three points of UMass until 8:00 when Rashida Timbilla scored a two-pointer to bring the score to 51-46.
