Postgame Quotes

Ohio Head Coach Bob Boldon
On Ball State

"They are really good. I don't know that their record is indicative of how good they are. They finished second last year. They have the freshman of the year back. They've got kids that shoot it well. They've got kids that didn't shoot it well the game before that are tough kids that won't shoot it bad two game in a row."

On defensive improvements Ohio needs to make
"I mean, probably everything. Probably need to pressure the ball better, probably need to communicate our switch better. We probably need to deny reversal better. We probably need to get to help side better. We probably need to take down better when we go to make a trap. We probably need to do a better job of seeing the basketball when it's driving, and we probably need to do a better job of talking to each other."

On playing Akron next Thursday
"The nice thing about not being real good is you got a lot of things to work on and so what we have to do is look at the tape and find out what we can try to fix. Early in the non-conference schedule you could look at the tape and by the score see what we worked on that week in practice. When we worked on offense, we scored a bunch of points but couldn't guard, and then when we worked on defense, we could guard but couldn't score. Akron is tremendous on offense. They could score 100 on us, so you've got to decide, are you going to try to score 101 or hold them to a number that we can score, which is like 52?" So, you've got to kind of pick your poison and try to get better at something during the week."

On defending Ball State sophomore guard Nathalie Fontaine
"We really just dealt with getting the help side, and we usually work on fronting the post. We were doing that with the post side, and we just got denied."

Ohio Sophomore Guard Kiyanna Black
On getting the offense going
"I think we just need to make shots whether we are up or down. Our focus wasn't there to start the game, and we didn't come out with intensity."
