Kohn Earns Academic All-District Honor

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio women's basketball player Lauren Kohn was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 4 First Team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Kohn was selected third-team all-district last season.

To be eligible for academic all-district, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average of 3.20, and be either a starter or key reserve. District V consists of schools in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario, and Manitoba.

Joining Kohn on the District 4 First Team are Tennessee players Candace Parker and Nicky Anosike, Chelsea Chowning from Kentucky and Whitney Lewis from Wright State.

Kohn has earned back-to-back MAC East Player of the Week awards this season and averages a team-best 16.5 points per game, including 18.4 points in conference play alone. She has scored in double-digits in 18 games this season, including six games in which she scored 20 or more points.

According to the recent NCAA national rankings summary on Feb. 3, Kohn is ranked 19th in the nation in free throw percentage. She has led the `Cats in scoring all season long and has scored 1,260 points in her career, including 828 points in her years as a Bobcat.

In the classroom, Kohn has excelled, posting a 3.82 cumulative grade point average while majoring in communications and public advocacy. She was also selected to the 2006-07 All-MAC Academic Team.
