ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University Women's Basketball Team heads north Saturday for its final Mid-American Conference West Division road game of the season. Ohio will take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles from Ypsilanti, Mich., at noon on SportsTime Ohio and WatchESPN.
In addition to the television and live streaming coverage, Ohio's game will also be broadcast live via the "Listen Live" link at the top of the page. Ohio (5-16, 0-9 MAC) was beaten by Northern Illinois in its most recent outing, falling in Athens by a final score of 73-52. Senior guard Symone Lyles (Silver Spring, Md.) scored a career-high 13 points in the loss and was joined in double figures by Erin Bailes, who chipped in 10 points of her own. The Bobcats were unable to withstand a hot-shooting NIU team which operated at a 29-49 (59.2 percent) clip from the field, a figure which included an astounding 8-12 (66.7 percent) mark from beyond the arc.

Scouting the Eagles
Eastern Michigan enters Saturday's contest the owner of a 5-17 record which includes a 3-6 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Eagles have dropped two of their last three contests, most recently losing a close game at Akron (82-81) on Feb. 6. In MAC play, the Eagles are averaging 7.3 fewer points and 2.3 fewer rebounds than their opponents.
The Eagles are led in scoring by Natachia Watkins, who is averaging 10 points per game. She is followed closely by India Hairston, who can be counted upon for 9.6 points per contest. Hairston is the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 6.4 boards each outing. In MAC play, Bianca Cage has stepped up to lead the Eagles with 114 points, or 12.7 each game.
Ohio - Eastern Michigan Series History
Saturday's game will be the 53rd all-time meeting between Ohio and Eastern Michigan. The Bobcats hold a 30-22 edge in the series which has its roots in the 1980-81 season. Eastern Michigan has taken each of the last three meetings, most recently beating the Bobcats in Athens by a final score of 63-53 on Feb. 1, 2012. Ohio is 12-11 in 23 meetings played in Ypsilanti, Mich., with the Bobcats last claiming a road victory in the series on Feb. 4, 2009.
Stepping Up as a Scorer
Senior guard Symone Lyles has stepped up her offensive play over the last few games. The native of Silver Spring, Md., has scored ten points or more in three of Ohio's last six games, including a career-high 13 points against Northern Illinois on Feb. 6.
Double Digit Assists
Ohio has moved the ball well during its last two games, recording a combined 26 assists against Kent State and Northern Illinois. Following five straight MAC games in which Ohio registered nine assists or less, the `Cats have dished out 11 or more in their last two contests.
Senior point guard Ashley Fowler has been the model of consistency for the Bobcats this season. The native of Cincinnati, Ohio, has started all 21 games, leads the team in minutes played (742), and has dished out a team-high 69 assists.
A Marked Improvement
Through the first four games of the season, freshman guard Kiyanna Black was averaging 5.3 points per game and had not yet scored in double figures. Seventeen games later, she is now averaging 11.8 per contest, has scored in double figures on 13 occasions, and ranks No. 14 in the MAC with 11.9 points per league game.
Batting a Thousand
In just six career appearances for the Bobcats, senior guard Laura Mastro has gone a spotless 2-2 from the field. The native of Endwell, N.Y., hit one three-pointer Jan. 23 against Central Michigan and another Jan. 31 at Toledo.
Ashley Fowler has played 327 minutes in nine Mid-American Conference games during the 2012-13 season to average 36.3 minutes per contest. This currently ranks tied atop the entire league as of games played Feb. 6.
Winning the Turnover Battle
Ohio committed six fewer turnovers than Northern Illinois on Feb. 6. This marked the 14th time in 21 games this season that Ohio has taken better care of the ball than its opposition.
