ATHENS, Ohio – Freshman guard Kiyanna Black of the Ohio University Women’s Basketball Team has been named to the 2012-13 Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team, the league office announced on Friday. The native of Columbus, Ohio, is averaging 9.6 points per game and has scored in double figures on 13 occasions during her first season with the Bobcats.

Black becomes the first Ohio freshman to earn All-Freshman Team honors since current junior Shavon Robinson (Canton, Ohio) did so in 2011.

Black had arguably her best game of the season on Jan. 17 at Miami, scoring 26 points on 11-24 shooting from the field, a figure which included a 2-5 mark from three-point distance.

She is joined on the All-MAC Freshman Team by Nathalie Fontaine (Ball State), MacKenzie Loesing (Buffalo), Bianca Cage (Eastern Michigan), and Miracle Woods (Western Michigan).
