CLEVELAND, Ohio - Two Ohio women's basketball players were recognized Tuesday night when the Mid-American Conference announced its 2009 all-conference teams, as senior Lauren Hmiel collected second-team honors, and junior Jennifer Bushby received third-team recognition.

After garnering all-tournament team recognition at last year's MAC Tournament, Hmiel (York, Pa.) stepped up her game during the 2008-09 season, more than doubling her scoring average and leading Ohio in scoring at 14.7 ppg. A Secondary Education and Integrated Studies major, Hmiel scored in double figures on 22 occasions over the course of the season, including 18 games with 15 points or more. She also led Ohio in scoring in 12 games and notched five games of 20 points or more while collecting two double-doubles on the year. She scored 20 points against nationally-ranked Florida and recorded a career-high 21 points against Akron on Jan. 14. She notched the first double-double of her career with 18 points and 13 rebounds against Miami while helping the `Cats snap an 11-game losing streak in Millett Hall.

The MAC East Player of the week two of the final three weeks of the season, Bushby (Gahanna, Ohio) also enjoyed a breakout year during the 2008-09 campaign. After being switched to point guard at the beginning of the season, Bushby enjoyed an all-around season. In addition to averaging a career-best 11.5 ppg., she also led the MAC in assists at 5.46 apg. and pulled down a career-high 4.6 rebounds an outing. The Sports Management major also scored in double figures 18 times and tallied 6-or-more assists on 16 occasions, including 12 of her last 14 games. She picked up the first double-double of her career with 16 points and a career-best 11 rebounds against Clemson. She dished out a career-high 11 assists against Central Michigan and concluded the regular season with a 25-point, seven-assist showing against No. 25 Bowling Green. She is ranked on both Ohio's all-time and single-season assist lists.

Voting for the All-MAC teams was done by the league's coaches. For a complete breakdown of the All-MAC squads, including the All-MAC Freshman team and honorable-mention honorees, visit the MAC website at www.mac-sports.com.
