ATHENS, Ohio - After two groundbreaking seasons as head coach of the Ohio women's basketball team, Sylvia Crawley has resigned and accepted the same position at Boston College of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). She will assume duties immediately.
"I'm blessed to have had the chance to coach at Ohio for the past two years, and am eternally grateful for the opportunity and the support of Ohio's administration," said Crawley. "I am proud of the many accomplishments we've had and feel that the program is in a position to be very competitive in the Mid-American Conference and the nation both athletically and academically."

Associate head coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton and assistant coaches Geoff Lanier and Angelita Forte will join Crawley in the same roles at BC.
This past season, Crawley led the `Cats to a 20-13 record, which is the program's first 20-win season since 1994-95 (23-7). The Bobcats also made strides in conference play by posting a consecutive 10-6 record, marking the first time since 1997-98 that the program has reached double-digit wins in the MAC.
Under Crawley, the Bobcats have set six new all-time program records, garnered three All-MAC awards, two Academic All-MAC awards, two MAC All-Tournament selections, an Academic All-American finalist, and two Academic All-District honors.
Crawley finishes her tenure at Ohio with a regular-season record of 38-25 (.603), which is the best two-year start of any Bobcat women's hoops coach ever. Crawley also finishes with a 20-12 mark in the MAC.
"We appreciate Sylvia's dedication to furthering the growth of Ohio women's basketball," said Ohio Director of Athletics Jim Schaus. "At this time, we will begin a national search to identify the right person who will continue to take the program to great heights. I am confident and excited about our ability to recruit a high quality coach to this position."
Ohio named Crawley head coach on April 18, 2006, making her the eighth head coach in the program's history. She joined the team after serving as the interim head coach at Fordham University after serving as the top assistant there for a year. Crawley also served as an assistant coach at her alma mater North Carolina from 2000-02. In her two seasons with the Tar Heels, the team posted a combined 41-23 record and advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2002.
