Bobcat Staff Reflects on Camps, Extends Gratitude
June 25, 2009 2009 Summer Camps Photogallery Ohio women's basketball reflects on the 2009 summer camps that recently came to a close and expresses its gratitude to all that participated. This year's Women's Bobcat Camp was a time to remember. Four days of basketball and games made for strong bonds to be made in the midst of becoming better basketball players. Every single person got better! We all learned how to balance hard work and having fun. In the mornings, there were stations that incorporated passing, defensive principles, lay-ups, form shooting, post moves, rebounding, and conditioning. Campers learned the basic principles of 1-on-1 play and got a chance to showcase them in our 1-on-1 matches. They also learned specific 3-on-3 movements and cuts to be used for our 3-on-3 games. The most exciting matches, however, were the 5-on-5 games. Every team played against one another, and then we had a championship game on the full Convocation Center floor with the top two teams going at it. This resulted in a nail biter that came down to a last second shot and the number one team solidifying their dominance! During the camp, we explored the ideas of intensity, attitude, hustle and character, and we used them as our words of the day. In discussing these words throughout each day, our campers were asked to exhibit these characteristics in hopes that it would transfer into their normal lives as well. Overall, there was a lot of basketball, although we are sure that some of the campers may talk most about the games and dancing. The coaching staff and camp staff would like to express our gratitude to each person that participated and to the parents and families that supported them as well. It was a positive experience for all involved, and we are so excited for next year's camp! Go Bobcats! -Ohio women's basketball coaching and camp staff |
