Women's Basketball Picked Fifth in MAC Preseason Poll

ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University women's basketball team has been picked to finish fifth in the Mid-American Conference East Division in 2013-14, as voted on by the conference's coaches, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Akron was picked to win the East Division, receiving nine first-place votes. Bowling Green was tabbed to take second, garnering three first-place votes. Buffalo and Miami were picked to finish third and fourth, respectively, with the Bobcats and Kent State rounding out the division.

Central Michigan earned all 12 first-place votes in the MAC West Division and earned nine votes to be projected as the conference's tournament champion. Ball State was predicted to take second place, with Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois occupying the final four spots.

Akron, Bowling Green and Miami each received a vote to win the MAC Tournament.

Ohio opens the regular season at home on Nov. 10 as the Green and White welcomes Xavier to the Convocation Center.
