Ohio-George Washington Game Notes Get Acrobat Reader

ATHENS, Ohio - Looking for its first win of the young season, Ohio women's basketball returns to the hardwood as it plays host to George Washington Sunday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The `Cats will then play Marshall Tuesday.

BETWEEN THE LINES
• Ohio (0-2) will be trying for its first win of the season in its first-ever matchup with the Colonials (2-0).
• The `Cats are 7-16 (according to available records) all-time against the Atlantic 10 conference.
• It will be the second of a three-game homestand for Ohio.

RECAPPING LAST GAME
Navy's Cassie Consedine nailed a 30-foot 3-pointer and forward Angela Myers hit four free throws in the final 19 seconds to give the visiting Midshipmen a 55-51 win over Ohio Monday evening in the Convocation Center ... Ohio dominated the post, outscoring Navy 28-6 in the paint, while holding a massive 49-30 edge on the glass. However, Navy made the most of its attempts at the line, netting 21 of 25 shots (84 percent), while the Bobcats converted on just 50 percent (9-18) ... Sophomore Da'Keisha Mann scored a game-high 15 points and forward Kamille Buckner added 10, with seven rebounds and five steals. Guard Jenny Poff had four points, five assists and a game-high nine boards as well.

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials, a WNIT participant a season ago, return two starters and four letterwinners off a squad that finished 17-14 and fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference ... George Washington has won its first two games this season, coming from behind to edge North Texas on the road Tuesday before topping Coppin State at home, 68-64, last time out ... The Colonials are averaging 76.0 ppg. on .454 shooting through their first two games, while defensively, they are giving up 73.0 ppg. on .438 shooting.

GW is led by 6-5 center Sara Mostafa. The sophomore is averaging 15.5 pts., 9.0 rebs. and 6.0 bpg. thus far, while also shooting .647 from the field. Sophomore Tiana Myers and freshman Danni Jackson join Mostafa as the other two Colonials scoring in double figures thus far, averaging 12.5 and 10.5 ppg., respectively. Jackson has also done well getting her teammates involved, dishing out a combined 15 assists ... Head coach Mike Bozeman is in his second season at the helm of the Colonials.

Sunday afternoon will mark the first-ever meeting between the Bobcats and Colonials.

OHIO AND THE ATLANTIC 10
According to available records, Ohio will be facing off against a squad from the Atlantic 10 Conference for the 24th time when meeting GW. The `Cats are 7-16 against the A-10 all-time. They last met an A-10 team last year when they faced Fordham at the Cancun Thanksgiving Classic. Ohio lost that game 43-34.

After being arguably the MAC's strongest defense squad last season, Ohio has picked up where it left off through the first two games, holding the opposition to just .365 shooting from the field and 55.5 points per game.
