Columbus, Ohio - Taylor Brown scored in the 65th minute and Ohio defeated No. 6 Ohio State in Columbus this afternoon, 2-1. Katherine Fenzel's first goal as a Bobcat started things off as the team improved to 3-0 with a win against a program that made the Final Four last year.

"I am extremely happy with how the team played today," Head Coach Neil Macmillan said. "We moved the ball around really well in the first half and denied them opportunities. In the second half, I give credit to them. They made adjustments which led to the corner and the goal. But, we fought back from being level and scored to win the game. I'm just really, really proud of everyone."

In the waning minutes of regulation with the game tied, Ohio had a penalty corner opportunity, which was taken by sophomore Jessica Jue. Her entry was slipped to Louzeth Schutte who fired a shot on goal. Her try was then deflected in front by Brown and past the OSU goalkeeper for the deciding score.

"It was late in the game and we had been fighting the whole time and constantly pushing," Brown said. "Lo set it up perfectly and I just touched it up over the keeper. This win is huge for us. As hard as we worked during preseason and the summer, it shows the kind of potential that we have and how far we can go this season."

Ohio dominated play and broke its three-game losing streak to Ohio State. The Bobcats' last win in the series was back in 2007 when it upset the No. 13 Buckeyes 4-2 in Columbus. Ohio's last win over a ranked team was a 1-0 victory on September 4, 2009 against No. 18 Indiana. The last victory over a team ranked this high was a 2-1 win against No. 4 Duke on August 25, 2007.

The Bobcats' first goal came with under two minutes remaining in the first half. Jue took the ball down the right side of the field to the top of the shooting circle. She then crossed the ball to Brooke Edwards who found an open Fenzel by the left side of the cage. The sophomore poked it home for her first collegiate goal to give Ohio a 1-0 lead.

"Jess split two defenders, found Brooke and she slipped it on to me," Fenzel said. "It's awesome. Right now, the feeling is unexplainable. It's great to be able to show ourselves and everyone else, how we have improved and how good we could be."

Ohio blanked Ohio State in the first half, not allowing a shot from the home team. Kristine Geges had Ohio's first real chance of the game. A shot by Cathryn Altdoerffer was blocked and the ball came free to Geges who fired a shot that was saved by the OSU goalkeeper. It was almost the exact same scenario six minutes later when Altdoerffer had a tried blocked and Brown shot the rebound off the post.

Ohio State tied things in the second half on a goal by Jenn Sciulli at 46:20. It was only the second shot of the game for the Buckeyes and it would be the last taken on this afternoon for the home team.

Ohio head to the City of Brotherly Love this weekend for contests against St. Joseph's on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and against Temple on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
