ATHENS, Ohio -
Cathryn Altdoerffer scored two second-half goals but it was not enough to pull No. 15 Ohio back from an early three-goal deficit as it lost 3-2 this afternoon to Indiana.
The Hoosiers led 3-0 at the break, but Ohio dominated the run of play in the second half and made things interesting on two tallies by Altdoerffer in the 49th and 59th minute. to cut IU's lead to just one, but Indiana held on for the 3-2 victory. Ohio finished with a 9-1 advantage on shots in the second half but ran out of time to complete a comeback.
All five goals in the contest were set up by penalty corners. Laura Mastro and Jessica Jue picked up assists on Altdoerffer's first goal while Louzeth Schutte had the lone helper on the second tally. Jue lead the team with seven assists, while Schutte and Mastro have five apiece. Altdoerffer now has five goals on the season and is tied with Jue for the overall point lead (13).
The Hoosiers got on the board in the 16th minute as Brenna Moeljadi scored her fifth goal of the season off a penalty scorner. Just seven minutes later, Moeljadi netted her sixth goal of the season off another penalty corner to give IU a 2-0 lead on the Bobcats (6-2).
Katie Griswold and Brooke Borneman tallied the assists on the second goal of the game. The Indiana offense stayed hot as Zamudio scored her third goal of the year in the 25th minute, off another penalty corner to increase the Hoosier's advantage to 3-0. Borneman recorded her second assist of the game on the third goal.
The Bobcats outshot the Hoosiers, 13-4, but Indiana held a slight edge in corners, 8-7.
The Bobcats return to action next Saturday at St. Louis. They open MAC play next Sunday at Missouri State.
