ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio Field Hockey had three student-athletes, Cathryn Altdoerffer, Jenna Green and Jen McGill named to the 2011 Field Hockey Academic All-MAC team on Friday morning. A total of 14 student-athletes were named to the team as Ohio had its most selections on the squad since 2006.

Altdoerffer was named for the second-consecutive season after being named All-MAC and selected to the MAC All-Tournament Team. The junior started every game for the 'Cats and finished sixth in the MAC in points with 10 goals (5th) and seven assists (8th). She scored three goals to earn an Offensive Player of the Week award, tallying twice against St. Joseph's and adding another to ice a victory against Temple.

McGill, a two-time NFHCA Scholar Athlete, was also named All-MAC and picked to be on the MAC All-Tournament Team. She finished second in the nation in goals-against average (0.82) and placed eighth in the nation in save percentage (.778). The Louisville native notched 10 shutouts to lead the MAC and was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week back in October.

Green, a defensive stalwart for the Bobcats and three-time NFHCA Scholar Athlete, was also a MAC All-Tournament Team selection. She started every game for Ohio, who had the stingiest defense in the MAC and one of the best backlines in the nation (1.09 goals per game).

Four other Bobcats, Brooke Edwards, Katherine Fenzel, Laura Mastro and Jessica Vaeth were Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention selections.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
